Job Title: General Labor Packing/ Press Help

Department: Production

Reports To: Packing Foreman

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Summary

The Packer will assist in the lifting, transferring, stacking and packing of aluminum extrusions into a bundle according to customer specifications.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Measure product to insure customer specified length
  • Inspect finished product for defects and/or damage before packing for shipment
  • Cut wood using wood saw for banding and packing according to customer specifications
  • Bundle finished product for customer using banding equipment and as needed supplies: foam, cardboard, plastic etc
  • Accurately count pieces of product on pallets or in bundles
  • Deburr product as necessary
  • Complete paperwork on a daily basis in a legible manner
  • Keep work area clean on a daily basis

Education and/or Experience


Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills


Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Responsible for understanding, comprehending and implementing company procedures.

Other Skills and Abilities

Accurately read a tape measure while measuring product. Employee must maintain a great deal of accuracy involving identifying damaged product prior to shipment to customer.

Employee must have the ability to perform the majority of the work while standing 100% of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
